How to cancel
You can cancel your Payday South Africa subscription at any time from the Subscription page inside the app. There is no cancellation fee, no notice period, and no need to contact support — cancellation is self-service and takes effect immediately when you confirm it. Cancelling also stops the recurring billing agreement with PayFast, our payment processor.
When cancellation takes effect
- Paid subscription: recurring billing stops immediately, and you keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. No further charges are made.
- Free trial: ending a trial takes effect immediately. No charges are ever made for a trial.
We do not refund partial billing periods when you cancel — see the Refund Policy for details, including how billing errors are handled.
Failed payments and suspension
If a recurring payment fails, your account enters a short grace period (currently 7 days) during which payroll generation is paused while you update your payment. If the payment is not resolved by the end of the grace period, the account is suspended. A suspended account can be reactivated by subscribing again — your data is retained.
What happens to your data
After cancellation, your payroll records, payslips, and documents are retained for 90 days so you can export what you need or reactivate your subscription. After that period, data may be deleted, except where we are required to retain it by law. We recommend downloading your payslips, reports, and filing packs before or shortly after cancelling.
Reactivation
You can resubscribe at any time from the Subscription page. If you reactivate within the retention period, your employees, payroll history, and settings are exactly as you left them.
Cancellation by us
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates our Terms of Service or whose subscription lapses beyond the grace period. Data retention after such termination follows the same 90-day retention approach described above, subject to legal requirements.
